The Oshman Family JCC recently hosted author and motivational speaker Julie Lythcott-Haims for a dynamic discussion of her book How to Raise an Adult: Break Free of the Overparenting Trap and Prepare Your Kid for Success. Julie spent ten years as the Dean of Freshmen at Stanford University getting a firsthand look at some of the immense parental pressure to which today’s teens are subjected. In her newly-published book she discusses what parents can do to maintain a healthy relationship with their child while preparing them for a life on their own.
